Please be aware that creating a WordPress Administrator account for someone else will give them complete control over your website.
So be careful!
Create A WordPress User Account With Admin Rights (4 Simple Steps)
1. Log into your WordPress website by visiting: examplewebsite.co.za/wp-admin. Remember to replace “examplewebsite” with your website’s address, or url. If needed, include the www. Prefix, for example: www.examplewebsite.co.za/wp-admin
- On the left-hand navigation page, select “Users”
- On the following page, select “Add New” on either the left-hand navigation page, or at the top.
On the following page, complete the “Add new user” form with the required fields. You can leave the automatically generated password as-is. Lastly, change the role permission to Administrator.
After you’ve added the new WordPress Admin account you’ll be redirected back to the WordPress Dashboard with a message “New user created”.
If You Are Creating A WordPress Admin User For Us
Please use the following credentials if you are creating an account for us.
Uncheck “Send the new user an email about their account”
Change the Role to Administrator
Lastly, click on “Add New User”
Please don’t send us an email with the automatically generated password. We will use the “Lost your password?” feature to create our own password.
Bonus – How To Reset Your Current WordPress Admin Account Password
You can reset your password of your WordPress Admin account from the login screen
1. Go back to your WordPress website’s login screen by visiting: examplewebsite.co.za/wp-admin as before. Remember to replace “examplewebsite” with your website’s address, or url.
2. Click on “Lost your password?” at the bottom.
3. Provide the username or email address that’s linked to your WordPress admin account.
Please note that this will only work with the username or email address exists.
If you the username or email address doesn’t exist, you will receive an error message.
Follow the instructions from the password reset email. The email can take a few minutes to arrive, but if you don’t see it in your inbox it might be in your Spam folder.
